Favorite Asana
Savasanana (Corpse Pose). Everything else is a subtle variation on the theme of knowing how and what it is to surrender. Restorative poses are great. I spend much of my formal practice simply sitting...but savasana, that's THE ONE.
I Have Studied Yoga Since
1989 and I started teaching yoga in 1993.
I Knew I loved Yoga When
I felt Yoga loving me.
Greatest Influences
My teachers are my greatest influences, no doubt. I was lay ordained in the Soto Zen tradition by Kobun Chino, Roshi, and is a student of Richard Freeman and Dr. Shankaranarayana Jois of Mysore.
Words That Best Describe My Classes
Kind, authentic, intelligent, funny, deep, spacious, present, flowing, still, creative. Sounds great, but is it true? Sometimes it's flowers and fairies but sometimes it's snakes and toads!
Why I Love Studio Be Yoga
I walk into Studio Be and I go, "AHHH". And then I look in that big goddess wide wood, spacious room and go "AHHH." Then I sit down on that floor and stretch my legs and go,"AHHH." The kind, gentle people come in from all over the town and I go,"mmmmmmm." I feel like Studio Be is this huge shrine and I am in it, protected and sacred. Studio Be is one quiet place right in the middle of town. It's like a meditation hall on the side of a green mountain.
